![]() I dont have this system, but I do use a similar setup. I am also partially concerned that maybe there could be something wrong with my cat to make his urine smell this much? As I said, I didn't notice an issue until recently, but a thought occurred to me that it might just be because it's warmer/more humid out now, and it's bringing the smell out more?ĭoes anyone have any other suggestions? (Other than getting rid of my cat or letting him poo in the garden, etc.)Įdit: The culprit, just because it's a cute picture and it's a unicorn chaser after reading about pee for 3 minutes (He's in mid-yawn, not hissing.)Įdit 2: What the heck, and again, because he's cute It was the lowest smell option of any litterbox I had ever used until recently. Low-smell is my main concern, which is why I chose the Breeze system. If that is the case, I am welcoming alternative suggestions. If I can't figure out how to get it to stop smelling, I am going to have to switch to a new system, because this is awful. As soon as I take the box out of the room and air it out, the smell goes away. (He is also fixed.) Nothing else smells except the box and subsequently the air in the room. I have checked thoroughly and he is not peeing or spraying on anything else in that room. I scoop the poos almost immediately after he goes, so that smell isn't an issue at all. I am concerned that whatever sort of chemical deodorizer I use would either harm my cat or make it so he won't pee in the box anymore, and then I'd have a pissed-on floor and a pissed-off cat. When I change the pellets, I take the entire box apart and give it a good washing, so it's not residual smell on the plastic. I've tried sprinkling baking soda over pretty much the entire thing, it only helps a minor amount. I change the pee pad thingy every couple days, but it doesn't do any good it's the pellets themselves that seem to be absorbing the smell. I now have to change the pellets once a week or so, even though you're supposed to only have to do it every 2-3 weeks. (I am leaving the windows open and a fan on, and it's not helping either :/ ) Now, the pellets seem to smell of urine within a week and subsequently the entire room is reeking. I've been using it with him for 8 months, and I have only had this issue for the past 5 weeks or so.
